However, Guadagnino's latest narrative feature, 'Artificial', starring Andrew Garfield as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, will not be making its debut at the festival. The film, initially set up at Amazon MGM Studios, faced a setback when Amazon announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI, leading to its acquisition by Neon. Neon decided to skip the fall festival circuit, opting for a late December qualifying release before expanding the film in early 2027.
Despite this, Guadagnino's journey at the Venice Film Festival is marked by success. His previous films, including 'After the Hunt', 'Quicksilver', 'Bones and All', 'Suspiria', 'A Bigger Splash', 'I Am Love', and 'The Protagonists', have all premiered in Venice. He was awarded the Silver Lion for best director in 2022 for 'Bones and All'.
